As a founder of Learning and Development Kenya and current Reinhard Mohn Fellow, I’m currently visiting Bertelsmann, Inc. Ethics and Compliance Department for three months.

About the Reinhard Mohn Fellowship:

The Reinhard Mohn Fellowship is funded by Bertelsmann AG to support the professional development of social entrepreneurs throughout the world. It sponsors high achievers who have shown innovative performance, visionary ideas and a commitment to socio-economic issues in projects of their own. Reinhard Mohn Fellowship provides an opportunity for in-depth work training in a global media company to strengthen leadership and entrepreneurial skills for executing future projects.

As a 2006/2007 Reinhard Mohn Fellow I’m currently working at the Bertelsmann, Inc. Ethics and Compliance Department in New York. Apart from the in-depth work training I’m gaining from the Ethics and Compliance Department, I have also received a donation of a large number of books to benefit my own community back home in Kenya by Random House, Inc.  I shipped the first 15 cartons of books to Kenya using the M-BAG postal services on September 12, 2006. The postage is quite affordable and paid for through the fellowship.  I hope to get more cartons of books to Kenya to benefit my community during the remaining period I’m still in New York.

The Fellowship has been beneficial to both my career development as well as to the community I left behind in Kenya through this donation of books.
