LDK’S Prize Shop

Sustainability of LDK’s social programs without steady income or continuous follow of funding is the main challenge LDK face at the moment. In an effort to find alternative revenue streams for funding its Child Education Program (CEP), Environmental Program, HIV/AIDS Program, Civic education, and the Micro credit Program: LDK has come up with the sale of products to generate additional income to meet the costs of its operations and enhance efficiency and project sustainability.

Shop at our curio shop

The curios are produced in masses here in Kenya but because a majority (56%) of the Kenyan population lives in abject poverty, very few of these items are sold on the local market as food remains the priority to the majority of the families living in poverty.

You can now order these items directly from LDK. Proceeds from the sale of the curios is ploughed back into the social programs being implemented by LDK to support the operational costs: food for the feeding program, children’s school basic needs, as well as utilities (electricity and water) and rental costs currently considered a huge challenge for the sustainability of the programs.

Baringo and Koibatek Districts are within the arid and semi-arid (asal) areas in the rift valley province in Kenya. The residents of these districts cultivate and sale natural honey locally, to support their families, in addition to grazing livestock.

Before honey was largely harvested as a domestic food for the nomadic families and used with milk and meat from livestock (a community’s treasure), to make a complete family meal.
